| Observe the static precautions below. Failure to follow these steps may result in damage to the DIMM or circuit board or both. |
Static electricity precautions:
- Unplug the printer from its power outlet.
- Touch the printer's bare metal frame often to discharge static electricity from your body.
- Handle the circuit board(s) by their edges only.
- Do not lay the board(s) on a metal surface.
- Avoid wearing nylon or polyester clothing; they generate static electricity.

Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.

Loosen the 2 thumb screws on the back of the printers main board.

Slide out the main board.

Place the board on a firm flat surface.

Remove the old configuration chip and dispose of it as normal waste.

Insert the new configuration chip.

Insert the memory DIMM into the available slot.

Check to verify that the clip is in the correct position of the DIMM. There is only one DIMM clip for each slot.

Remove the tape form the port.

Insert the board back into the printer.

Tighten down the the thumb screws.

Plug the printer back in and turn on the printer.

To verify that the option is installed correctly and the printer recognizes it, print a Configuration Page and look for Printer Name: Phaser 6200N. If the option is not correct perform the installation procedure again.
